IFTR - International Federation for Theatre Research held its World Congress in Belgrade at the University of Arts in Belgrade from 09. - 13.07.2018. The framework theme of the Congress is
Theatre and Migration - Theatre, Nation and Identity: Between Migration and Stasis. As an accompanying content, the Congress wanted to present the result of the work of asylum seekers within the project Creation, Affirmation, Integration.
CIMO - Center for Research of Fashion and Clothing, in cooperation with RCT, Zagreb, conducted creative workshops for asylum seekers (2016-2017), ie persons under international care in asylum centers in Kutina and Hotel Porin in Zagreb in the form of creative therapy thread and needle embroidery workshop on textiles.
The content of the workshop, set in the title, aimed to encourage integration through socializing and creative work in the workshops of the therapeutic embroidery program, where users use their traditional skills in working on textiles, which resulted in a large number of textile creations shown at various exhibitions.
The workshop of creative embroidery with thread on textiles lasted 24 weeks (from 24.11.206 - 04.05.2017. In the centers for asylum seekers in Kutina and Porin in Zagreb.
The workshop gathered a large number of participants (Kutina 52 and Porin 59), females and males, aged 7 - 61 years.
The exhibition works were selected according to the dominant themes, and under the title I'm telling you a story with a needle and thread.
The stories told are presented:
1. My name is written here
2. We had the most beautiful house
3. We had the most beautiful flowers in the garden
4. We had different pets
5. My heart is broken
