Book Promotion, Tansy E. Hoskins: Stitched Up: The Anti-capitalist Book of Fashion, 2015



The promotion of the Croatian edition of the book by English author Tansy E. Hoskins: Stitched Up: The Anti-capitalist Book of Fashion (publishers: Sandorf & Mizantrop and CIMO - Center for Research of Fashion and Clothing) will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 starting at 7.30 pm at the Bogdan Ogrizović Library, Preradovićeva ulica 5., in Zagreb.

Speakers at the promotion will be: Tonči Vladislavić, Ivan Sršen, Lea Vene, Tihana Bertek.

The book Stitched Up: The Anti-capitalist Book of Fashion presents research and critique of the fashion system today, as images of the ultimate glamorization of society, the production of luxuries, and the banalization of the production price in the field of human labor usually in third world countries.

Moving ''from Karl Lagerfeld to Karl Marx'', the book explores aspects of consumption and advertising, mediation and diffusion of a fashion product, and fashion message.

The author problematizes the issues of fashion and clothing today, but also offers some answers: the possibility of resistance, reform and revolutionization of fashion - clothing practice. This book represents the first significant, unique, bold but well-argued critique of an important segment of contemporary culture within the dominant capitalist production practice.

Tansy E. Hoskins is a writer, journalist and activist. He writes for the Guardian and Business of Fashion, and edits shows on the BBC, Al Jazeera and Channel 4.
